Can it be anything better than traveling with your soul mate? I don’t think so. And Amsterdam is one of the most exciting places in the world if you’re looking for stunning views, adventurous nightlife and romantic moments. However, you may wonder which hotel to choose from. The answer is – it mostly depends on your wallet. However, in order to recommend different options for different budgets, I have prepared a list of Amsterdam’s hotels for couples. Prices vary between 150 and 350 Euro but all hotels below are checked, verified and recommended. They all have at least 3 stars (however, most of them have 4 stars), most of them have breakfast included. All of them have private bathrooms and a double bed. Enjoy! I hope you’ll find a hotel you’ll absolutely love.
To me, one of the best places to spend a short city break in Amsterdam. The venue is run by exceptional hosts – I still remember a warm welcome they give to the guests. These people are simply unique. The property is quite small, it has 20 rooms only. It makes it even more charming though. Rooms but very simple, yet elegant. There’s an included breakfast buffet, especially their pancakes are worth trying. For a romantic date, I recommend that you visit one of the restaurants within 100 meters – Tunes Bar, The Burger Room or The Seafood Bar van Baerlestraat. The hotel offers a paid parking. You can also book an airport shuttle service.
Hotel Fita is located in a cultural part of the city. Van Museum, Concertgebouw and Stedelijk Museum are within a 3-minute walk. In 20 minutes you can reach Madame Tussauds, Flower Market or Rembrandt Square on foot. The hotel is also 20 minutes from the Jordaan. There is a metro station (Weespersplein) close to the hotel (around a 20-minute walk).
Conscious Hotel Museum Square
The hotel was completely refurbished in the first quarter of 2019. To me, a great advantage is that Conscious Hotel Museum Square is an eco-hotel. It’s been awarded the Green Key Gold which is one of the most famous eco certifications. It uses biodegradable furniture and recycled materials, there are also solar panels on the roof. I absolutely love the fact that the hotel kitchen serves fully organic breakfast. Important info: the hotel is 100% cashless. Also, you can rent bikes at a surcharge. At the hotel, there is also a beautiful garden. A big, big plus for one extraordinary feature: every day at 6:00 pm there is a free wine hour – all guests are welcome for a free glass of wine in the lobby.
The venue is located close to the city center, but in a bit quieter neighborhood. In 5 minutes you can reach Concert Building, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum. Rijksmuseum is 700 meters away. There’s a bus stop a stone’s throw away from the hotel.
Hotel De Hallen
The hotel is situated in a former tram depot, in an old, classic building. Hotel De Hallen was opened in 2014. Modern interior, vintage furniture and industrial feel – these words best describe Hotel De Hallen. I like contemporary art so the general look satisfies me. There are over 50 rooms, they all are non-smoking. There’s an a-la-carte restaurant serving international cuisine (you must try the lobster menu!) and a large, sun-soaked terrace for the two of you to spend a lovely afternoon. Oh, and guests are provided access to Vondelpark. Make sure you visit the bar Foodhallen (within a 5-minute walk).
The hotel is located around 2 km from Dam Square. The famous market – Ten Katestraat – is only 5 minutes by foot. Stedelijk Museum is just a few steps away, too. 500 m from the hotel you’ll find a tram stop – Kinkerstraat. You can directly reach Central Station in 20 minutes. There is also a bus stop – Bilderdijkstraat/Kinkerstraat 350 meters away from the venue.
Room Mate Aitana
An amazing 4-star hotel was built on an artificial island in the IJ River. It’s very stylish and design and so are the rooms. They all have a panoramic view. Breakfast is served daily at the hotel restaurant. There’s also a chance to arrange a romantic breakfast in the room. The hotel offers a gym arena, a fitness center, a business area and a bike rental service. There is also a marina with 60 moorings for recreation boats. In my opinion, Room Mate Aitana is just perfect for an active weekend with your date – the venue also has a sun deck, a golf course and a casino.
The hotel is located around 800 meters from Central Station. Dam Square is 1.7 km away and RAI is within a 15-minute drive. You can reach the Old Church, New Church and Royal Palace in around 18 minutes on foot. There is a direct train link to the airport. The metro station is only 10 minutes away on foot.
Monet Garden Hotel Amsterdam
Monet Garden Hotel Amsterdam is a beautiful and lovely boutique hotel. It’s located right next to the canals and a great thing is that most rooms stunning canal and garden views. This 4-star hotel is quite new and modern, it was opened in 2017. There are 105 smoke-free rooms. They all have rainfall showerheads in bathrooms and espresso makers. Cool if you love having your morning coffee in bed like me. There are also bathrobes and slippers. The hotel has a fitness center and an amazing garden to relax in the afternoon. Especially in the summer, it’s so nice to just relax there with your beloved one. You can also chill out by the fireplace at the bar. Breakfast is optional (for a fee). However, I recommend you try it – it’s really extensive. I especially loved fresh-baked waffles. Yummie.
The hotel is actually close to everything. All the center-located tourist spots are close. Hortus Botanicus, Stopera and Nemo Science Museum are within an 8-minute walk. Then, National Maritime Museum, Rembrandt Square and the Old Church are around 13 minutes away.
Hotel Van de Vijsel
Wood, vintage and a great dose of art – such combination makes me exciting, especially when it comes to a hotel I am just about to stay at. And Hotel Van de Vijsel is nothing but a nice surprise. If you’re in need of a contemporary look, you’ll love this place. The building dates back to the 19th century, it’s a former timber trade. And the hotel still has a very industrial look and feel (even if it was opened in 2018) which is a great plus. There are 82 rooms over 5 floors. Breakfast isn’t included. You can use an airport shuttle service at a surcharge. Important info: the hotel is cashless.

NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market
NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market was opened in the beginning of 2019 (the building dates back to 1928 though). It’s one of the tallest buildings in Amsterdam. It has over 200 smoke-free rooms spread across eight floors. Most of them overlook the amazing Flower Market or Rembrandtplein. The hotel itself is extremely elegant and cosmopolitan. I love its refined furniture, as well as extraordinary wallpaper. It’s like a fusion of innovation and industrial vintage. There’s a self parking nearby. Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam
The hotel is situated in a historical building. It’s quite modern but stylish at the same time. 306 rooms have large windows which is a plus. You can choose between superior and executive rooms and suites. Some of the rooms were totally restyled in 2011 (the ones in new Urban Wing) – they are definitely more trendy than the old ones. The hotel offers an indoor pool area and a sauna, as well as a fitness center. Paid massages in the beauty salon at Park Plaza Victoria – highly recommended! You should definitely try the hotel’s brasserie, especially if you are a fan of Dutch cuisine (is it possible at all?). Among the others, the restaurant serves the home-made pastries. Breakfast is optional.
Park Plaza Victoria is located right opposite Central Station. St. Nicholas Church is within a 2-minute walk and National Monument, as well as Madame Tussauds – around a 6-minute walk away. You can reach the airport in 15 minutes by train.

It’s free to use by guests and there is no charge for roaming. Isn’t it cool? Dikker & Thijs Hotel also offers a fitness center and a valet parking at a surcharge. There are over 550 rooms, each one has a jaw-dropping floor-to-ceiling windows. This definitely makes you feel a sense of air and space. The hotel offers a fitness center. At the lobby level, you’ll also find Starbucks café.

I used to think that hotels in the very center of the city are either insanely expensive or cheap and filthy. Rho Hotel has absolutely changed my mind. Located on the edge of Dam Square, it’s absolutely delightful with its former-theater Art Deco-style lobby. The hotel opened in 1989 and it was used by an old gold-trading company. However, the lobby is a former theater built in 1908. Around the hotel, there are the historic Amsterdam’s canals. At the hotel there are 172 smoke-free rooms. Rooms are spacious, all have a refrigerator and a private bathroom with a shower. There’s a paid parking nearby. There’s also a lift. Breakfast is included. It’s served daily in the dining room overlooking Dam Square. It usually consist of various types of bread, cereals and a few warm dishes (like scrambled eggs).

So, that’s it. 12 best Amsterdam’s hotels for couples. They all are exceptional and worth recommending. They all are located quite close to the city center. And all of them are recommended by guests using booking.com (none of them is rated lower than 8.0). Have you chosen the one you stay at for a romantic city break in Amsterdam?
