My Favorite Amsterdam Hotels For Couples

by Maja Świątnicka

Can it be anything better than traveling with your soul mate? I don’t think so. And Amsterdam is one of the most exciting places in the world if you’re looking for stunning views, adventurous nightlife and romantic moments. However, you may wonder which hotel to choose from. The answer is – it mostly depends on your wallet. However, in order to recommend different options for different budgets, I have prepared a list of Amsterdam’s hotels for couples. Prices vary between 150 and 350 Euro but all hotels below are checked, verified and recommended.  They all have at least 3 stars (however, most of them have 4 stars), most of them have breakfast included. All of them have private bathrooms and a double bed. Enjoy! I hope you’ll find a hotel you’ll absolutely love.

Hotel Fita

To me, one of the best places to spend a short city break in Amsterdam. The venue is run by exceptional hosts – I still remember a warm welcome they give to the guests. These people are simply unique. The property is quite small, it has 20 rooms only. It makes it even more charming though. Rooms but very simple, yet elegant. There’s an included breakfast buffet, especially their pancakes are worth trying. For a romantic date, I recommend that you visit one of the restaurants within 100 meters – Tunes Bar, The Burger Room or The Seafood Bar van Baerlestraat. The hotel offers a paid parking. You can also book an airport shuttle service.

Hotel Fita is located in a cultural part of the city. Van Museum, Concertgebouw and Stedelijk Museum are within a 3-minute walk. In 20 minutes you can reach Madame Tussauds, Flower Market or Rembrandt Square on foot. The hotel is also 20 minutes from the Jordaan. There is a metro station (Weespersplein) close to the hotel (around a 20-minute walk).

The hotel was completely refurbished in the first quarter of 2019. To me, a great advantage is that Conscious Hotel Museum Square is an eco-hotel. It’s been awarded the Green Key Gold which is one of the most famous eco certifications. It uses biodegradable furniture and recycled materials, there are also solar panels on the roof. I absolutely love the fact that the hotel kitchen serves fully organic breakfast. Important info: the hotel is 100% cashless. Also, you can rent bikes at a surcharge. At the hotel, there is also a beautiful garden. A big, big plus for one extraordinary feature: every day at 6:00 pm there is a free wine hour – all guests are welcome for a free glass of wine in the lobby.

Hotel De Hallen

The hotel is situated in a former tram depot, in an old, classic building. Hotel De Hallen was opened in 2014. Modern interior, vintage furniture and industrial feel – these words best describe Hotel De Hallen. I like contemporary art so the general look satisfies me. There are over 50 rooms, they all are non-smoking. There’s an a-la-carte restaurant serving international cuisine (you must try the lobster menu!) and a large, sun-soaked terrace for the two of you to spend a lovely afternoon. Oh, and guests are provided access to Vondelpark. Make sure you visit the bar Foodhallen (within a 5-minute walk).

An amazing 4-star hotel was built on an artificial island in the IJ River. It’s very stylish and design and so are the rooms. They all have a panoramic view. Breakfast is served daily at the hotel restaurant. There’s also a chance to arrange a romantic breakfast in the room. The hotel offers a gym arena, a fitness center, a business area and a bike rental service. There is also a marina with 60 moorings for recreation boats. Wood, vintage and a great dose of art – such combination makes me exciting, especially when it comes to a hotel I am just about to stay at. And Hotel Van de Vijsel is nothing but a nice surprise.  If you’re in need of a contemporary look, you’ll love this place. The building dates back to the 19th century, it’s a former timber trade. I used to think that hotels in the very center of the city are either insanely expensive or cheap and filthy. Rho Hotel has absolutely changed my mind. Located on the edge of Dam Square, it’s absolutely delightful with its former-theater Art Deco-style lobby. The hotel opened in 1989 and it was used by an old gold-trading company. However, the lobby is a former theater built in 1908. Around the hotel, there are the historic Amsterdam’s canals. At the hotel there are 172 smoke-free rooms.
